Frequently Asked Questions

Therapy may be helpful if you are experiencing emotional distress, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, trauma, or feeling overwhelmed by life's challenges. It can also be valuable if you're seeking greater self-understanding, personal growth, or support through a significant life transition. If you're unsure whether therapy is the right fit, the initial consultation provides an opportunity to discuss your concerns and determine whether my services are appropriate for your needs.
-
To get started, simply submit a consultation request using my secure online booking portal. You will then be asked to complete an intake questionnaire and informed consent forms. Once I have reviewed your information, I will confirm whether I am the appropriate psychologist for your needs. If your consultation request is accepted, you will receive confirmation of your appointment together with a secure link to join your online session. Payment is not required when submitting your request. An invoice will be issued after your consultation.

The first session is an opportunity for us to explore the concerns that have brought you to therapy, discuss your personal history, and clarify what you hope to achieve. It also allows us to determine whether we are a good therapeutic fit and begin developing an appropriate treatment plan tailored to your individual needs.
-
Individual consultations are 51–60 minutes in duration. This applies to both initial consultations and ongoing psychotherapy sessions.
-
Therapy is typically scheduled on a weekly basis, particularly at the beginning of treatment. However, the frequency of sessions will depend on your individual needs, therapeutic goals, and the nature of the difficulties you are experiencing. This will be discussed collaboratively and reviewed throughout the course of therapy.

My fees are aligned with current medical aid rates. For private-paying clients, the fee is R1,400 per 51–60 minute consultation. If requested, I can submit claims directly to most South African medical aid schemes on your behalf. The extent of cover and any co-payments will depend on your specific medical aid plan and available benefits. Certain clinical conditions may also qualify for Prescribed Minimum Benefits (PMBs), which can be discussed where clinically appropriate.

Confidentiality is a fundamental part of psychological practice. Information shared during therapy will remain confidential and will not be disclosed without your consent, except where disclosure is required by law or where there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others. The limits of confidentiality will be discussed with you during the informed consent process before therapy begins.
